Wasabi fries? This McDonald’s features new menu items from around the world
- McDonald’s has just revamped the menu at a restaurant at its Chicago headquarters to include favourites from that are offered in some foreign countries.
- New offerings include a Quarter Pounder topped with natural blue cheese, Wasabi fries and a Sausage McMuffin Tomato Salad.

If you’re a McDonald’s fan who yearns for a more adventurous fare than a Big Mac and fries, you’ll have to go to Chicago.
It’s there, in the eatery in its headquarters, that McDonald’s has just revamped its menu to include favourites from that are offered in some foreign countries, but not in the U.S. Its part of a global rotating menu meant to show off the creativity and diversity of the nation’s largest fast-food chain.
As a result, the McDonald’s has a quarter-pounder, but this one comes topped with natural blue cheese. There aren’t just fries. There are Hong Kong Wasabi fries, which include a seasoning that customers add by shaking them in a paper bag.
Other highlights from the menu include the Sausage McMuffin Tomato Salad, a toasted English muffin with a sausage patty and salad vegetables, and a new drink, the Baci McFlurry, which has soft-serve vanilla ice cream spiced with a Baci candy sauce of creamy chocolate and hazelnut bits.
An Australian McCafé area serves coffee brewed by McDonald’s baristas. Besides the new menu, there will also be a Latin-American style dessert centre.
The restaurant is also one of the chain’s most modern, showing off McDonald’s innovations like self-order kiosks, table service and the ability to pay and order using a mobile device.
The restaurant will also have outdoor seating and a wall map with its famous Golden Arches that light up to show off new items from a specific country featured on the menu.
