Falling into a hole

Its hard to imagine when you are a toddler that you might grow up into someone people will hate, despise or even want to disassociate from.

At a young age you have friends and family that support you through the tough times but as you get older you tend to lose that and rely on yourself.

I use to watch a television show called The West Wing and there have always been a few quotes that have stuck in my mind.

“This guy’s walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can’t get out.” A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up,  ‘Hey you. Can you help me out?’  The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on. “Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, ‘Father, I’m down in this hole can you help me out?’ The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on “Then a friend walks by, ‘Hey, Joe, it’s me can you help me out?’ And the friend jumps in the hole. Our guy says,  ‘Are you stupid? Now we’re both down here.’ The friend says, ‘Yeah, but I’ve been down here before and I know the way out.'”

There is a subtle message hidden in this.

From day one we are all walking down a street and often we fall into these holes and yes some people can help superficially but then you meet someone who can help without cause or demand.

Many people consider these people as our guardian angels others consider them as friends.

For two years I was deep in a hole that I couldn’t get out of and I was struggling. Every day I took a breath and it seemed like I was getting deeper and deeper into the dark void.  But then I met someone who showed me the light.

They say that you find God in the strangest of places, by giving myself to our Lord and Saviour I was able to let all my worries go.

Matthew 11 28:30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

I found God and he has helped me beat my depression and ensured that my enemies are taken care of. He has allowed me to forgive myself and forgive the people around me.

At the end of the day, the only person I need to fear is God himself.

All I ask is for a second chance and forgiveness.
